      Vertical installation of LZB-50 glass rotor flowmeter

      1、 Purpose:

      Glass rotor flow meters are mainly used in various departments such as chemical, petroleum, light industry, medicine, fertilizer, synthetic fiber, food, dye, environmental protection, and scientific research to measure the flow rate of single-phase non pulsating (liquid or gas) fluids. The corrosion-resistant glass rotor flowmeter is mainly used for detecting the flow rate of corrosive liquids and gas media, such as strong acids, strong bases, oxidants, strong oxidizing acids, organic solvents, and other corrosive gas or liquid media.

      2、 Installation

      1. It must be installed vertically on a vibration free pipeline. The fluid flows through the flowmeter from bottom to top, and the verticality is better than 2 °;

      2. For the convenience of maintenance, replacement of flow meters, and cleaning of measurement pipelines, the FA24 glass rotor flow meter installed on the process pipeline should be equipped with bypass pipelines and bypass valves;

      3. The inlet of the rotor flowmeter should have a straight pipe section of at least 5 times the diameter of the pipe, and the outlet should have a straight pipe section of 250mm;

      4. If the medium contains ferromagnetic substances, a magnetic filter should be installed; If the medium contains solid impurities, it should be considered to install a filter between the valve and the straight pipe section;

      5. When used for gas measurement, it should be ensured that the pipeline pressure is not less than 5 times the pressure loss of the flowmeter to ensure stable operation of the float;

      6. In order to avoid deformation of the flow meter caused by the pipeline, the flange of the process pipeline must be coaxial and parallel to the flange of the flow meter. The pipeline support should be used to avoid pipeline vibration and reduce the axial load of the FA24 glass rotor flow meter. The control valve in the measurement system should be installed downstream of the flow meter;

      7. When measuring gas, if the gas is directly discharged into the atmosphere at the outlet of the flowmeter, a valve should be installed at the outlet of the instrument, otherwise a pressure drop will occur at the float, causing data distortion.

      3、 Principle

      It mainly consists of a conical glass tube that expands from bottom to top and a float that moves up and down according to the fluid flow rate.

      When the fluid flows through the conical tube from bottom to top, the lift S generated by the kinetic energy of the fluid on the float and the buoyancy A of the fluid cause the float to rise. When the sum of the lift S and buoyancy A is equal to the weight G of the float itself, the float is in equilibrium and stable at a certain height position. The scale on the conical tube indicates the flow rate value of the fluid.

      4、 Precautions

      1. Open the box, check for accuracy, remove the filling material, and install it vertically (the angle between the instrument centerline and the lead hammer line should not exceed 5 °) on a vibration free pipeline with correct support to prevent stress from entering.

      2. Newly installed pipelines should be flushed clean before instrument installation. When installing the glass rotor flowmeter into the pipeline, the minimum division value on the cone tube should be below.

      For the convenience of maintenance, there should be sufficient space around the instrument. The bypass pipe must be installed according to the diagram.

      4. Valves should be installed upstream of the instrument, and throttling valves should be installed 5-10D downstream. If there is backflow or water hammer damage to the glass cone tube of the glass rotor flowmeter in the pipeline, a one-way check valve should be installed after the downstream valve.

      If the measured fluid contains large particles, impurities, or bubbles, a filter or exhaust port should be installed upstream of the instrument.

      If the fluid being measured is a pulsating flow, causing the float to be passive and unable to measure correctly, a buffer and setting device of appropriate size should be installed downstream of the glass rotor flowmeter to eliminate pulsation.
