      Column type sensor

      During the measurement process, gravity acts on the elastic body, causing deformation. This strain (positive or negative) is converted into an electronic signal by strain gauges attached to the elastic body. In addition to the essential strain gauges and elastomers, sensors usually also include a protective shell for the strain gauges, sealing elements, etc.

      Hollow column sensor

      The upper part of the elastic body is welded to the protective shell through two films. They are very rigid in the horizontal direction to prevent damage from lateral forces, and the measurement direction is flexible so that no horizontal force is generated during the measurement process. The circuit wiring is also led out from the protective ring through an airtight glass conduit. Especially forming a sensor with a completely sealed packaging.       For sensors measuring extremely high loads, another shape of elastic body is usually selected, such as hollow cylindrical or tubular, while square columns are not suitable because a uniform strain field that is conducive to strain gauge measurement cannot be obtained.
