Overview: A force gauge consists of a force sensor (or force measuring ring) and a matching indicator device. When the force sensor (or force measuring ring) is subjected to force, the magnitude of the force is indicated by the indicator device.
The surface of the force measuring instrument and its accessories should be free of defects that affect the technical performance. The attachments are complete and cannot be replaced arbitrarily. The force measuring instrument and its surroundings should be securely placed in a sturdy specialized instrument box.
2. Newly manufactured, repaired, and improperly used force measuring instruments need to be calibrated twice. After the calibration, the force measuring instrument should be disassembled and transported. The time interval between the two calibrations is generally six months
3. Other relevant technical aspects of the force measuring instrument should meet the requirements of the corresponding technical documents (such as GUO standards, industry standards, and factory manuals).
4. Use and replacement of indicator instruments
4.1 The indicator instrument should be used and adjusted according to the factory manual and user requirements.
4.2 The force sensor and indicator instrument should be used together and generally should not be replaced arbitrarily. If it is necessary to replace the indicating instrument using electrical measurement, it can be replaced by another indicating instrument without the need to recalibrate the force measuring instrument, provided that the following conditions are met.
5.1. The original and replacement indicating instruments shall have calibration certificates traceable to national standards and providing calibration results in basic units of electricity (volts, amperes). The calibration range of the replacement indicator instrument should not be smaller than the range when used together with the force gauge, and its resolution should not be lower than that when used together with the force gauge.
5.2. The unit of measurement and the type of excitation source for replacing the indicator instrument should be the same as the original indicator instrument.
5.3. The uncertainty of each indicator instrument (original and replacement) should not affect the uncertainty of the entire combination of force measuring instruments. The recommended replacement indicator instrument has an uncertainty greater than 1/3 of the overall system uncertainty
6. Analog instruments
The markings on the analog instrument scale should be uniform and consistent, and the width of the pointer should be approximately equal to the width of the markings. The resolution (r) of the indicating instrument should be determined based on the ratio of the pointer width to the distance between the centers of two adjacent scale lines (scale spacing). The recommended ratios are 1/2, 1/5, and 1/10. When the scale spacing is not less than 1.25mm, the placement time can estimate 1/10 of the scale dial division value.
7. When there is no load, if the displayed value of the digital instrument does not change by more than one increment, the lateral resolution is one increment of the last significant digit displayed; If the indication change of the digital instrument is greater than one increment, the resolution is half of the indication change range.
8. The minimum value of the measuring range of the force gauge should not be less than 2% of the maximum value of the measuring range
The force measuring instrument should be placed for a sufficient period of time under calibration conditions to ensure that its temperature is the same and stable as the temperature under calibration conditions. The recommended placement time for force measuring instruments is no less than 8 hours.
