      Maintenance and upkeep of gas boilers: After the boiler is stopped, it should be well maintained, otherwise the metal inner wall of the steam water system will be corroded by dissolved oxygen. Because after the shutdown, a large amount of air enters the system, although the boiler has been drained, a layer of water film still adheres to the inner wall to dissolve oxygen, causing corrosion of the metal. There are many maintenance methods, which should be based on the principles of simplicity, effectiveness, and economy. Suitable maintenance methods should also be selected according to specific situations such as shutdown requirements. Practice has shown that corrosion caused by non maintenance during boiler shutdown will affect the safety and service life of boiler equipment. Therefore, it is necessary to carefully maintain the boiler. Common methods for gas boiler maintenance include the following:;

      1. Pressure maintenance

      Pressure maintenance, also known as thermal maintenance. After the boiler is shut down, maintain a high water level and a pressure of 0.05-0.1Mpa to keep the temperature of the boiler above 100 ℃, mainly to prevent the entry of air, as the boiler does not have oxygen containing conditions. Regularly start a fire to maintain the temperature inside the boiler. This method is suitable for boiler maintenance with hot standby and short shutdown periods.

      2 Wet maintenance

      This method involves filling the boiler system with an alkaline aqueous solution to form a corrosion-resistant film on the metal surface, isolating the air and preventing oxygen corrosion. Generally, this method can be used when the shutdown time does not exceed one month. After the boiler is shut down for maintenance, the manhole is closed and the hand hole is isolated from the system. Then, the alkaline solution is filled into the boiler, all valves are closed, and a pressure of 0.15-0.4Mpa is maintained. If the temperature is too low, a low flame oven can be used regularly. If the pressure disappears, a special pump can be used to maintain the pressure

      3. Desiccant method maintenance

      When the boiler is shut down for a long time, dry maintenance is more effective. After the boiler is shut down, drain the water completely, clean the inside and outside, dry the boiler, and then place the open container containing desiccant into the boiler. Close the manhole, handhole, furnace mouth, and chimney to isolate them from the outside world. The usage amount of desiccant is as follows:

      Lime (CaO) 2-3Kg/m3; Anhydrous calcium chloride (CaCl2) 1Kg/m3

      After placing the desiccant for 10 days, the manhole should be opened for inspection. If the desiccant is found to be ineffective, it should be replaced with a new one and checked every 1-2 months thereafter.

      4 Inflatable maintenance

      After the boiler is shut down, the boiler water should be drained completely, and the scale and impurities in the boiler should be removed and dried. Then, nitrogen or ammonia gas depressurized from a steel cylinder should be placed into the boiler from a high position, forcing denser air to be discharged from the lower part of the boiler. Finally, the lower valve should be closed. This method is applicable for long-term shutdown maintenance of boilers.
