Description :
In places where combustible materials are produced and stored, anti-static measures or facilities should be taken to eliminate or control the accumulation of static electricity. Today, we will briefly discuss the scope, grounding methods, grounding resistance, static grounding terminals, static grounding main lines, and grounding bodies of storage tanks based on relevant standards such as the "Design Code for Static Electricity Grounding in Petrochemical Industry" (SH/T3097-2017) and the "Design Code for Petroleum Warehouses" (GB50074-2014). We will also briefly introduce the installation and layout of static grounding facilities for storage tanks, for the purpose of communication.

The range of electrostatic grounding for equipment, pipelines, operating tools, and human bodies that may generate and accumulate static electricity and cause electrostatic hazards should take electrostatic grounding measures. 02 Static grounding method
There are two ways of electrostatic grounding: direct electrostatic grounding and indirect electrostatic grounding. For static non-conductive materials, other measures to eliminate static electricity need to be considered.
03 Grounding Resistance
The standard requirement for the resistance value of electrostatic grounding is not greater than 106 Ω. The resistance value of the static grounding body set to eliminate static electricity is not greater than 100 Ω. It should be noted that this resistance value is the ground resistance value.
04 Static grounding terminal
Static grounding terminals include exposed metal surfaces, metal bolt connections, or grounding terminal strips, as well as metal grounding plates set up to eliminate static electricity.
05 Static grounding main line and grounding body
The static grounding main line and grounding body should be determined by comprehensive consideration of the protective grounding main line, anti lightning induction grounding main line, etc., or separate static grounding main lines and grounding bodies should be set up.
06 Connection of static grounding
The connection for static grounding of fixed equipment can be bolted; Flexible wires should be used to connect equipment that may experience vibration or displacement; Electric battery clamps, crocodile clamps, specialized connection clamps, or magnetic connectors are suitable for static grounding connections of mobile devices and tools.
The basic requirements for static grounding of storage tanks include equipotential connection and good grounding of metal components such as agitators, elevators, instrument pipelines, and metal floats inside the tank.
On the top platform of the storage tank, two sets of anti-static devices should be installed at the sampling port to eliminate human static electricity, and reliable electrical connections should be made between the anti-static devices and the storage tank.
The movable metal components of the floating roof tank should be connected to the tank wall using copper core flexible stranded wire, and the connection points between the metal components and the tank wall should not be less than two.
At the entrance of the ladder or escalator, as well as at the entrance to the hazardous area, human static electricity discharge facilities should be installed. For tank areas or storage tanks, these areas belong to explosive hazardous areas, and it is recommended to choose explosion-proof human static electricity discharge facilities.
For non-metallic storage tanks, we need to comprehensively consider measures for electrostatic grounding based on the type of substance stored in the tank.
