Steel shot used for surface strengthening is called reinforced steel shot, while steel shot used for surface rust removal and sand removal treatment is called sand removal steel shot or rust removal steel shot.

　　Rust removal steel shot requires sufficient penetration ability and therefore requires sufficient steel shot particle size because it needs to strip and clean the rust layer, oxide film, and burrs on the surface of the workpiece. Because the steel shot particles are too small, there is not enough force to remove the oxide film, rust layer, etc. during shot blasting. If the particles are too large, it will have adverse effects or even damage the workpiece. The appropriate particle size of steel shot is beneficial for improving production efficiency and effectively ensuring the surface quality of the workpiece.

　　In shot blasting cleaning, if the hardness of the steel shot used is too high, although theoretically it can accelerate the cleaning efficiency, the service life of the steel shot is severely reduced, the breakage rate is extremely high, resulting in a significant increase in production costs, which is not worth the loss. So during cleaning, selecting suitable steel balls, steel grit, steel wire cutting balls, reinforced steel balls, etc., can also be paired in pairs, and the effect can sometimes be better.
