    Description :

Before the artificial synthesis of soda ash, it was discovered in ancient times that some seaweed, after being dried, contained alkaline substances in their ashes. After soaking and filtering with hot water, brown alkaline solution could be obtained for washing. A large amount of natural alkali comes from minerals, mainly buried underground or in alkaline lakes. The natural alkali ore existing in sedimentary layers has high grade and is widely distributed. The invention of the method for synthesizing soda ash artificially was made in the late 18th century by Loubulan, France, which used saltpeter, limestone, and coal to reduce and carbonize at high temperatures, resulting in a crude product mainly containing Na2CO3- black ash. After leaching, evaporation, refining, recrystallization, and drying, heavy soda ash with a purity of about 97% was obtained. In 1861, Ernest Solvay of Belgium independently invented soda ash and obtained a patent. Due to the lack of widespread application of technology secret protection, it was not until the 1920s that breakthroughs were made in the United States. In particular, Chinese chemical expert Hou Debang published the book "Soda Ash Manufacturing" in 1932, which kept it confidential for 70 years, and the Solvay law was made public. Hou Debang also created the Hou's alkali production method from 1939 to 1942 and established a pilot plant in Sichuan. In 1952, a joint alkali production workshop was established at Dalian Chemical Plant. The NA method launched by Asahi Glass Company in Japan is essentially a conversion method between soda ash and ammonia alkali. The ratio of soda ash to ammonium chloride can be adjusted freely.
