Description :
Urea is easily soluble in water, and can dissolve 105 grams in 100 milliliters of water at 20 ℃. The aqueous solution exhibits a neutral reaction. There are two types of urea products. Crystalline urea is in the form of white needle shaped or prismatic crystals, with strong hygroscopicity. After absorbing moisture, it clumps up and absorbs moisture 12 times faster than granular urea. Granular urea is a semi transparent particle with a particle size of 1-2 millimeters, with a smooth appearance and significantly improved moisture absorption. At 20 ℃, the critical moisture absorption point is 80% relative humidity, but at 30 ℃, the critical moisture absorption point drops to 72.5%. Therefore, urea should be avoided from being stored open in humid summer climates. Adding hydrophobic substances such as paraffin in urea production greatly reduces its hygroscopicity.
It can be used in large quantities as a raw material for the production of various products such as urea formaldehyde resin, tetracycline, reduced brown BR, phthalocyanine B, phthalocyanine Bx, monosodium glutamate, etc.
It has a brightening effect on chemical polishing of steel and stainless steel, is used as a corrosion inhibitor in metal pickling, and is also used in the preparation of activation solutions.
In industry, it is also used as a raw material for the production of urea formaldehyde resin, polyurethane, and resin. When urea is heated to 200 ℃, it generates solid trichloroacetic acid (i.e. cyanuric acid). The derivatives of cyanuric acid, such as trichloroisocyanuric acid, sodium dichloroisocyanurate, tris (2-hydroxyethyl) isocyanurate, tris (allyl) isocyanurate, tris (3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzyl) isocyanate, tris (glycidyl) isocyanurate, and cyanuric acid complexes, have many important applications. The first two are new disinfectants and bleaching agents, with a total production capacity of over 80000 tons of trichloroisocyanuric acid.
