During the construction period, it is inevitable to encounter situations where a climbing welding machine is used to join the joints of the geomembrane. Generally, the construction team will choose people with good joint technology to complete this work. However, even so, errors may still occur. Below are some precautions for geomembrane joints: According to quality testing, using hot welding method is more ideal. The hot welding method is to heat the surface of the PE geomembrane to melt it, and then fuse it into one through pressure. The geomembrane should be laid along a certain direction, and a certain amount of PE film and PET non adhesive layer should be reserved on both sides of the geomembrane. When laying, the direction of each unit of geomembrane should be adjusted to facilitate the welding of the two units of geomembrane. After laying the geomembrane, it should be pressed down with sand bags to prevent wind movement. The edge joints should be free of dirt, moisture, dust, etc. When there are impurities, they must be cleaned before welding. Before welding, the two edges of the PE film at the joint should be adjusted to overlap a certain width, and it should be smooth and wrinkle free. When encountering insufficient length of geomembrane, longitudinal splicing is required. The transverse welds should be welded first, and then the longitudinal welds should be welded. If the distance between the transverse welds is greater than 50cm, they should form a T shape and not cross each other. When welding, it is best to have experienced technicians who use specialized welding machines for welding. The temperature and speed should be adjusted properly, and there should be no slipping or jumping of the weld seam. Adjacent geomembrane welds should be staggered and overlapped as much as possible. The nodes formed between the membrane blocks should be T-shaped, and cross shaped joints should be minimized as much as possible. Squeezing welding machines should be used to strengthen the intersection points of the longitudinal molds towards the welds. When using a climbing welding machine in the construction of geomembranes, special attention should be paid to ensure that the laying is not too tight, wrinkles are not allowed, and the joints are firm. Strictly follow the technical specifications for construction, and ensure the quality control of five aspects including preparation, laying, splicing, inspection, and backfilling.
