　　1. What is insulated overhead wire

　　Insulated overhead wire refers to a wire in which a single or multiple layers of aluminum stranded wire are extruded with insulation layer on top. For the ground insulation of high-voltage transmission and distribution network overhead lines, it generally relies on air. In previous distribution lines (except for 380V below 10kV), bare wires were generally used. However, due to the complex distribution environment in urban areas, short-circuit grounding and lightning strikes often occur, resulting in reduced power supply reliability. Therefore, currently, insulated wires (i.e. insulation layer wrapped around the outer layer of the wire) are generally used for overhead lines below 10kV, which is called insulated overhead lines.

　　What are the components of insulated overhead conductors

　　1: A single steel wire or a steel strand made by twisting multiple strands of steel wire is used as the core to enhance the tensile strength of the conductor.

　　2: Multiple strands of aluminum wire are twisted and wrapped around steel strands or outer layers of steel wire using a compression mold.

　　3: Extrusion insulation process, using double-layer co extrusion method, with the inner shielding layer extruded in each layer and cross-linked polyethylene extruded in the second layer.
