5: 4160-2 Tester Remarks:
Working Principle:
The sensor of this instrument is a two electrode sensor, which has a series of advantages that are not present in three electrode sample extraction sensors and diffusion sensors.
The electrolyte of the sensor is inactive, similar to the electrolyte in flashlights and nickel cadmium batteries. No need to consider battery damage or acid damage to the instrument. The sensor has a sealed air storage chamber, which not only prolongs its lifespan but also eliminates the possibility of reference electrode contamination, eliminating the disadvantage of three electrode sensors requiring air for operation and making it suitable for anaerobic environments. Sample extraction sensors are highly sensitive detectors, with sensitivity 50-200 times greater than diffusion sensors depending on the type of gas. This is a crucial condition for measuring low concentration gases.
Conversion relationship between mg/m3 and ppm:
ppm=mg/m3×B/M In the above equation:
B: The molar volume of gas under standard conditions (at 0 degrees, B=22.4; 250C=24.46 liters)
M: The molecular weight of the tested substance (HCOH M=30)

Describe the function
When the measured value exceeds the alarm set point, the ALARM light will flash.
Alarm setting (SET): Use a screwdriver to adjust the potentiometer and set the alarm point to the desired ppm value (usually not adjusted).
The sound alarm will sound when the measured value exceeds the alarm point.
Span Calibration (SPAN) uses a screwdriver to adjust the potentiometer, which can adjust the reading to the corresponding concentration of the calibration gas when calibrating the instrument.(Users are not allowed to adjust on their own)
Function switch: Rotating this switch has the following functions:
OFF: Power off
ZERO: Alarm value setting (used in conjunction with ALARM SET)

Check the battery:
When using the instrument, it is necessary to first check the battery level.
1) Turn the function switch toBAT.TEST AIf the displayed value is below 1.00, charging is required.
2) Turn the function switch toBAT.TEST B If the displayed value is below 1.00, the alkaline battery needs to be replaced.
3) If both of the above levels are above 1.00, you can proceed to the next step.
Instrument zeroing
1) Turn on the instrument power at the measurement site and turn the function switch toSAMPLEPosition: Remove the plugs from both ends of the C-12 filter, connect the thick end of the connecting hose to one end of the C-12 filter, and insert the thin end forcefully into the air inlet (IN) on the back of the instrument.
2) The instrument will start zeroing after running stably for about 15 minutes.
3) After the instrument reading is stable, adjustZEROTurn the knob to display "0.00". After zeroing, remove the C-12 filter and plug both ends with red plugs.
Attention: When pulling out the air inlet on the back of the instrument from the hose end of the gas collection tube, first press the circular white clip at the air inlet with your hand, and then pull out the hose.
Note:C-12After multiple uses or in high concentration environments, the filter may become saturated with formaldehyde and its adsorption capacity may decrease, affecting detection accuracy.
At this point, it is necessary to reactivate the activated carbon in the filter using the following method:
Pull out the red plugs on both ends of the C-12 filter and place it in a drying oven (oven or microwave cannot be used) set at 40 ℃, and bake for 30 minutes.
If there is no drying oven, you can also remove the red plug and expose it to sunlight for about 2 hours.
I suggest replacing a C-12 filter every two years. If the activated carbon in the filter leaks, it must be replaced.
Start detection
1) Connect the coiled tube with plastic nut to the white sampling handle, and connect the other end of the coiled tube to the air inlet (IN) on the back of the instrument.
2) Point the sampling handle towards the measured area and wait for the values to stabilize before reading the measurement results.
3) When measuring other rooms in a short period of time, if there is little difference in the external environment (temperature, humidity, air pressure, etc.), it can be directly detected without repeating the zeroing process.
