      Introduction to Heat Release Welding

      Exothermic welding is a modern welding process that uses the chemical reaction between aluminum and copper oxide (exothermic reaction) to produce liquid high-temperature copper liquid and aluminum oxide residue, and utilizes the high temperature generated by the exothermic reaction to achieve high-performance electrical fusion. This reaction is carried out in a high-temperature resistant hot melt welding mold, and the exothermic reaction process can be completed in just a few seconds.

      1、 Advantages of hot melt welding molds

      The current carrying capacity (melting point) of the welding point is equal to the current carrying capacity of the wire;

      3、 Precautions for hot melt welding molds

      1. Firstly, based on the shape and size of the connecting components, create a suitable mold and configure the corresponding type of welding powder

      2. Before welding, treat the pulling parts to remove oil, dirt, and oxide layer

      3. Apply sufficient strong heat to the mold

      4. After installing the mold and inspecting it, pour in welding powder and ignite the reaction

      5. Clean the mold and prepare for next use

      4、 Preparation and key points of molds and mold clamps

      1. Dry the mold with a heating tool (such as a drying oven or a spray gun) before use to remove any moisture. Molds that have not been used for a long time contain moisture, especially those with residue left after the previous use, which have more moisture.

      2. To clean the mold, please use a soft bristled brush or other soft material.

      3. Check the tightness of the mold contact surface to prevent copper liquid from leaking out from the gaps during operation.

      4. The mold clamp is used for opening and closing molds, and its tightness has an impact on the welding effect. Please carefully check the mold clamp and make appropriate adjustments before welding begins.

      5. Install and adjust the mold clamp to adjust the fit between the clamp and the mold to a suitable state. The adjustment method is as follows:

      a) Place the mold clamp in the open position or position

      b) Release the mold clip and fix the lock buckle

      c) Remove the fixed bolt

      d) Adjust the adjusting screw to rotate counterclockwise (loosen)

      e) Insert the fixing bolt and lock buckle

      f) Open and close the mold clamp, observe the effect.

      Repeat adjusting the clamping distance in this way until the sealing degree of the mold clamp matches the sealing degree of the mold. If the opening and closing of the mold clamp requires a large amount of force, it indicates that the clamping distance has not been adjusted to the appropriate position (the clamping distance is too short) and needs to be readjusted. The installation and adjustment of the mold clamp have a significant impact on the welding quality and the service life of the mold and mold clamp. Therefore, it is recommended to carefully adjust the distance before welding. Regardless of whether there is fusion material inside the mold, improper clamping distance can cause damage to the mold and mold clamp.

      6. Hot melt welding molds are made of graphite and are very fragile, unable to withstand throwing and force impact. Therefore, it is not allowed to forcefully insert welding materials that exceed the size indicated on the mold nameplate into the mold, or use metal substances, hard tools, etc. to remove residue.

      7. If the size of the welded object is smaller than the mold nameplate, the following methods can be used to compensate for copper liquid leakage:

      1) Use sealant

      2) Use high-temperature cotton tape

      8. If the hot melt welding mold is maintained according to the above steps, its service life can reach 50-100 times or more.
