      Introduction

      OPGW fiber optic cable (also known as optical fiber composite overhead ground wire) is a structure in which optical fibers are placed in the ground wire of overhead high-voltage transmission lines to form a fiber optic communication network on the transmission lines. This structural form combines the dual functions of ground wire and communication, and is generally referred to as 0PGW fiber optic cable. A 250L "m optical fiber is inserted into a loose tube made of high modulus material, and the loose tube is filled with waterproof compound. A layer of double-sided coated steel strip (PSP) is longitudinally wrapped around the outer surface of the loose tube, and a water-resistant material is added between the steel strip and the loose tube to ensure the compactness and longitudinal water resistance of the optical cable. Two parallel steel wires are placed on both sides and then a polymer sheath is made to form the cable.

      (1) Lines with high voltage exceeding 110kV have a large span (generally above 250M).

      (2) Easy to maintain, easy to solve for line crossing problems, and its mechanical characteristics can meet the requirements for large line crossings.

      OPGW optical cables are mainly used on 500KV, 220KV, and 110KV voltage level lines. Due to factors such as power outages and safety, they are often applied on newly built lines.

      There are three main types: aluminum tube type, aluminum frame type, and (stainless) copper tube type.
