OPGW fiber optic cable (also known as fiber optic composite overhead ground wire) is a structure in which optical fibers are placed in the ground wire of overhead high-voltage transmission lines to form a fiber optic communication network on the transmission lines. This structure has dual functions of ground wire and communication, and is generally referred to as OPGW fiber optic cable. A 250 μ m optical fiber is inserted into a loose tube made of high modulus material, and the loose tube is filled with waterproof compound. A layer of double-sided plastic coated steel strip (PSP) is wrapped longitudinally outside the loose tube, and a water-resistant material is added between the steel strip and the loose tube to ensure the compactness and longitudinal water resistance of the optical cable. Two parallel steel wires are placed on both sides and extruded into a polyethylene sheath to form the cable.
