      ADSS fiber optic cable, also known as all dielectric self-supporting fiber optic cable, uses all dielectric materials for the fiber optic cable. Self supporting refers to the ability of the fiber optic cable's reinforcing components to withstand their own weight and external loads. This name indicates the usage environment and key technologies of this type of optical cable: because it is self-supporting, its mechanical strength is crucial; The use of all dielectric materials is because optical cables are exposed to high voltage and strong electrical environments, and must be able to withstand the effects of strong electricity; As it is used overhead on the power tower, there must be supporting hangers to fix the optical cable on the tower. ADSS optical cable has three key technologies: mechanical design of the cable, determination of suspension points, and selection and installation of supporting fittings.

      The mechanical properties of ADSS optical cables mainly include Maximum Allowable Tension (MAT), Every Day Strength (EDS), and Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS).

      ADSS optical cable has a different structure from overhead conductors, and its tensile strength is borne by aramid rope. The elastic modulus of aramid rope is more than half that of steel, and its thermal expansion coefficient is a fraction of that of steel, which determines that the sag of ADSS optical cable is more sensitive to external load changes.       The outer protective layer of ADSS optical cable is made of AT or PE material, which operates in strong electric fields and has the problem of electrical corrosion.

      ADSS optical cables may experience wind-induced vibrations. Smooth and stable lateral wind blowing towards the optical cable can cause wind vibration and fatigue damage at the hanging point.

      ADSS optical cables have a certain degree of pressure resistance and can withstand the high grip strength of tension clamps.
