Annual average stress (EDS) of ADSS optical cable
Sometimes referred to as daily average stress, it refers to the tension that the optical cable is subjected to under theoretical load in the absence of wind, ice, and annual average temperature. It can be considered as the average tension (stress) of ADSS during long-term operation. EDS is generally (16~25) [%] RTS. Under this tension, the optical fiber should be strain free and have no additional attenuation, making it very stable. EDS is also a fatigue aging parameter of optical cables, which determines the anti vibration design of optical cables.
ADSS fiber optic cable ultimate operating tension (UES)
Also known as special use tension, it refers to the significant tension that a fiber optic cable may experience beyond its design load during its effective lifespan. This means that the fiber optic cable allows for short-term overload, and the fiber optic cable can withstand strain within a limited allowable range. Typically, the UES should be greater than 60% RTS. Under this tension, if the strain of the optical fiber is less than 0.5% (central tube) and less than 0.35% (layer twisting), additional attenuation will occur in the optical fiber. However, after the tension is relieved, the optical fiber should return to normal. This parameter ensures the operability of ADSS optical cables during their lifespan.
Main technical parameters of ADSS optical cable
ADSS optical cables work in an overhead state supported by two points over a large span (usually several hundred meters, even exceeding 1 kilometer), which is completely different from the traditional concept of "overhead" (the overhead suspension line hook program in postal and telecommunications standards has an average of 0.4 meters with one fulcrum for the optical cable). So, the main parameters of ADSS optical cables are in line with the regulations for overhead power lines.
