A stone carved dining table generally consists of three parts: a base, a column body, and a supporting terrace. The column body is usually an octagonal prism, and there are many different shapes for the upper and lower parts. On the octagonal prism of the pillar body, there are carvings of the Dharma names of the Seven Treasures Tathagata and our master Shakyamuni Buddha. Some temples also have temple names carved on the front of their dining platforms, while the other seven sides are carved with the Dharma names of the Seven Treasures Tathagata. The regular base and upper terrace of the dining table are usually made in the shape of lotus shaped tables. Some temples may also make various styles of bases according to the different Buddhist sects they promote. However, the upper terrace will definitely be a lotus shaped table, and whether it is a three-layer, double-layer, or single-layer lotus shaped table will depend on the actual size of the dining table.
