PEI materials can be processed using most thermoplastic molding methods, such as injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, thermoforming, and compression molding. PEI is easy to post-treatment and can be bonded with other materials using adhesives and various welding methods.
At present, the most widely used molding method is injection molding, and about 95% of PEI materials are transformed into parts of varying sizes, complex shapes, precise dimensions, and high cost-effectiveness through this method.
PEI melt belongs to non Newtonian fluids, and its melt viscosity gradually decreases with increasing shear rate and melting temperature. Therefore, in the injection molding process, if it is necessary to process parts with thin walls, long processes, low internal stress, and properties that do not change with the flow direction, higher melt temperatures and faster injection rates should be selected.
PEI can be molded on standard injection molding machines, while reciprocating single screw injection machines are more effective than plunger injection machines because they can provide higher injection pressure, shorter molding cycles, fast and uniform heating, and produce parts with lower internal stress.
