　　These materials can be precisely customized according to specific wavelengths, with attenuation control, extreme high temperature resistance, and dimensional stability that facilitates precise docking of optical fibers. This innovative new solution is expected to reduce the cost of connectors by 20%, accelerate the speed of fiber optic laying, and provide an extended service life.

　　In 1972, GE Corporation in the United States began researching and developing PEI. After 10 years of continuous efforts, a 5000 ton production facility was built in 1982 and officially launched as the commodity ULTRAM® Selling in the market.

　　To improve the heat resistance of the product, GE has also developed the ULTRAM Gen II. Due to the presence of p-phenylenediamine structure in ULTRAM GEN II, the glass transition temperature has increased from 215 ℃ to 227 ℃, making it suitable for the surface bonding technology of ultra small electronic tubes for electronic components. This material has high strength, high stiffness, and long-term heat resistance at high temperatures.

　　The polyetherimide Ultem produced by GE is an injection molded amorphous resin with relatively high heat resistance, which can be used as automotive headlights, fog lamp reflectors, bulb holders, food boxes, airline supplied food containers, printed circuit boards, computer components, mobile phone internal antennas, and semiconductor chip holders.
