COC film vacuum evaporation low moisture absorption high transparency sugar paper

The molecular structure of COC contains hard non-polar cyclic branches, which is completely different from typical polyolefins. It is precisely because this molecular structure endows COC with high transparency, low birefringence, low moisture absorption, and low shrinkage of amorphous polymers, while also endowing COC with high heat resistance, high hardness, and high modulus. Its main application competitors are polycarbonate (PC) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA).

There are two main types of polymerization processes for cycloalkenes: ring opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) and addition polymerization. The molecular structure of cyclohexene polymers generated by different polymerization reactions using the same monomer is completely different.

The COC produced using ROMP hydrogenation technology includes Nippon Zeon Corp. from Japan, whose trade names are Zeonex @ and Zeonor @, with a total output of 6000 tons per year.; Japan Synthetic Rubber Company, with the trade name Alton @; BF Goodrich Company, product name: Telene@OP The COCs produced using addition polymerization technology include Ticona, a manufacturer of COC resin with the trade name Topas @ and a production capacity of 80000 tons per year; Mitsui Petrochemical Industries, with the trade name Apel @.
