      PC engineering plastics are polycarbonate resins polymerized by ester exchange (melt method) reaction of bisphenol A in dihydroxy compounds and diphenyl carbonate in carbonate compounds. It is a high-performance thermoplastic engineering plastic with outstanding impact resistance, good creep resistance and dimensional stability, heat resistance, low water absorption, non toxicity, and excellent dielectric properties. It is one of the five major engineering plastics with good transparency and a rapidly growing general-purpose engineering plastic in recent years.

      Polycarbonate is colorless and transparent, heat-resistant, impact resistant, flame-retardant BI grade, and has good mechanical properties even at normal operating temperatures. Compared to polymethyl methacrylate, polycarbonate has better impact resistance, higher refractive index, and better processing performance. It has UL94 V-0 flame retardant properties without the need for additives. However, polymethyl methacrylate is relatively cheaper than polycarbonate and can be used to produce large devices through bulk polymerization.

      Polycarbonate has poor wear resistance. Some polycarbonate devices used for wear-resistant purposes require special surface treatment.
