Polycarbonate (PC) is a general term for a class of high molecular weight compounds containing carbonate esters in their molecular chains, and is also a type of polyester. Bisphenol A-type polycarbonate is the most widely produced and used polycarbonate, and also one of the fastest developing engineering plastics. Bisphenol A-type polycarbonate has excellent impact strength, creep resistance, heat resistance, and cold resistance. It can be used in the temperature range of -100 ℃ to 140 ℃, with a visible light transmittance of about 90%. It has high tensile strength, bending strength, elongation, and rigidity, excellent aging resistance and electrical properties, low water absorption, but poor oil resistance, wear resistance, and processing performance. Polycarbonate is widely used in fields such as automotive, electronics and electrical, construction machinery, office automation equipment, packaging industry, sports equipment, healthcare, and household products.

The oxygen permeability of polycarbonate is significantly affected by temperature increase. For example, at 273K (0 ℃), the oxygen permeability is 272.952cm3/m2 · 24h · 0.1MPa, while at 323K (50 ℃), the oxygen permeability is 719.128cm3/m2 · 24h · 0.1MPa, an increase of about 2.6 times. Moreover, at 303K (30 ℃), the oxygen permeability is 507.201cm3/m2 · 24h · 0.1MPa, indicating that the variation of oxygen permeability with temperature is not linear. Observing Figure 1, it can be seen that the oxygen permeability is approximately exponentially related to the testing temperature.
