      Application of ABS

      ① Low odor ABS. In some situations where there is a lot of contact with people, low odor engineering plastics are needed to maintain the environment. Small molecule organic volatile compounds in general plastics can easily migrate to the surface of plastic products and evaporate into indoor air, causing a negative odor sensation. By selecting the appropriate matrix resin and undergoing necessary modifications and controlling appropriate processing conditions, ABS materials that meet standard requirements can be produced. Low odor ABS material is one of the common goals pursued by automobile manufacturers and automotive material manufacturers, especially for components such as air conditioning vents that need to withstand higher temperatures and conduct air.

      ② Heat resistant ABS. For some components that need to withstand high temperatures, the heat resistance of ABS still needs to be improved. A common method to improve the heat resistance of ABS is to blend ABS with PC to make ABS/PC alloy. \U000b heat-resistant ABS is usually used for heat dissipation grilles to prevent component deformation and thus prevent the plating layer from falling off due to deformation. It is also made of ABS or ASA. The door panel is also made of PC/ABS alloy due to its large area and the need for impact resistance. The mudguards of high-end cars are also made of ABS/PC alloy.

      ③ Extinguishing ABS. The strong light reflection inside the car cab can cause discomfort and fatigue for drivers, and affect their vision at night. Therefore, matte ABS has a wide range of applications in automotive cabin components. Due to ABS being a high smoothness engineering plastic, we chose resin grades with relatively low smoothness and wide molecular weight distribution during the modification process. And choose sheet-like or needle shaped fillers with large particle size. This can improve the surface roughness of the product, thereby scattering light and achieving extinction effect. ABS is used to manufacture components such as steering wheels and central control instrument panels.

      ④ Electroplating grade ABS. Although ABS already has a good aesthetic effect, in order to pursue a better aesthetic effect, it is often necessary to perform surface finishing treatments such as electroplating and painting on ABS. \U000b electroplating grade ABS is obtained by selecting ABS with a certain rubber content and rubber particle size, and modifying it to improve its polarity. Electroplated grade ABS is mainly used in components such as heat dissipation grilles and decorative labels.

      ⑤ Weather resistant ABS. Generally, ABS is prone to degradation under the action of sunlight and thermal oxygen, resulting in powdering, discoloration, and loss of some mechanical properties. Therefore, when using ABS for exterior parts, weather resistant ABS is generally required. \There are many varieties of weather resistant ABS, such as ACS, AES, and ASA. ASA is currently the most weather resistant variety, which is a product of replacing maleic rubber with acrylic rubber in ABS. PC/AS/SEBS alloy also has good weather resistance. Weather resistant ABS is mainly used in the production of automotive exterior components, such as car heat dissipation grilles, mirror frames, etc.
