The distance between the grid packing plates is relatively large (usually 24-42mm), with a high porosity and a large specific surface area. The gas and liquid have a fixed direction, and the channels on each plate are non-uniform. As the gas or liquid volume increases, the interaction between the gas and liquid phases is enhanced, but the hysteresis of the liquid volume is small, and the resistance of the tower is low. There is no phenomenon of filling the packing bed with liquid in the grid packing tower. Therefore, using plastic grid packing can choose a higher empty tower speed for the renovation of old towers, which is 1.5-3 times that of general packing. The production capacity has been greatly improved, and the design of the new tower can reduce the diameter and height of the tower. Due to the large distance between the grid packing plates, the surface of the plates is not smooth, and the resistance to gas rising and liquid falling is greatly reduced. There are fixed channels for gas and liquid, and the fluid constantly rushes and contacts between the plates, so that dusty gases and liquids will not stagnate, deposit, accumulate, or block on the packing surface. Therefore, grid packing is a regular packing material with high flux, low pressure, and no tower blockage. Under normal operating conditions, the flux is 80% higher than that of a plate tower.
