Description :
The white pine tree crown has umbels or inverted inflorescences, and the small branches are flattened or slightly inclined. The bark is light gray or white when young; Brown, not peeled, dark brown in old age, slightly lobed, branches light gray brown, hairless, buds ovate, apex slightly pointed, light brown, with oil. Leaves linear, 2-4 cm long, 1.5-2 mm wide, hard, apex acute or gradually pointed, not forked, 7-8 rows of white stomata on each side of the midrib. Male and female are monoecious and grow on biennial branches. Male cones are cylindrical in shape and grow in axils, hanging down, about 15 millimeters long. They are yellow green in color, while female cones are cylindrical in shape and stand upright, about 35 millimeters long. They are light green and grow at the top of the branch. The cone is green brown in color, cylindrical, round in shape, with circular base and top, 8-12 cm long and 3.5 cm in diameter. The flower stem is short, the scales are kidney shaped and fan-shaped, about 1.5 centimeters long and 3 centimeters wide, and the bracts do not protrude from half of the scales. The seeds are obliquely triangular, 8-12 millimeters long and 4.5-7.0 millimeters wide, with 5-7 more cotyledons than white pine. The flowering period is 4-5 months, and the fruit maturity period is 9-10 months. The difference between white pine heart and sapwood is quite obvious, with sapwood appearing white or light yellow, heart fat color, light brown or reddish brown, and long-term shaping turning into dark color. White pine has the characteristics of straight texture, uniform texture, medium thick structure, soft material, moderate toughness, low strength, good vibration resistance, low corrosion resistance, good durability, not easy to warp and deform, good bonding performance and nail and tenon performance
